چکیده

Abstract AC303,630 (chlorfenapyr), a member of a new class of compound known as the pyrroles, is a broad spectrum insecticide/acaricide on many economically importance crops. AC303,630 is highly active by ingestion, posesses contact activity and provides moderate residual activity on plants. Extensive field study in many Asian countries has shown AC303,630 to be highly effective on many economically important arthropods which have shown resistance to conventional classes of insecticides. Examples of pests that are effectively controlled by AC303,630 include Spodoptera exigua, Plutella xylostella, Heliothis virescens, Thrips palmi and Tetranychus spp. AC303,630 can be a promising and cost effective candidate for use in resistance management programmes in high value crops. This paper describes the bioactivity of AC303,630 on insect pests found on economically important crops in selected Asian countries.

Acaricide resistance mechanisms in the two-spotted spider mite Tetranychus urticae and other important Acari: a review.

The two-spotted spider mite Tetranychus urticae Koch is one of the economically most important pests in a wide range of outdoor and protected crops worldwide. Its control has been and still is largely based on the use of insecticides and acaricides. However, due to its short life cycle, abundant progeny and arrhenotokous reproduction, it is able to develop resistance to these compounds very rap...

special Toxicon issue on insecticidal toxins and their potential for insect pest control Graham

Arthropod pests are responsible for major crop devastation and are vectors for the transmission of new and re-emerging diseases in humans and livestock. Despite many years of effective control by conventional agrochemical insecticides, a number of factors are threatening the effectiveness and continued use of these agents. These include the development of insecticide resistance and usecancellat...

Arthropod Pest Control for UK Oilseed Rape – Comparing Insecticide Efficacies, Side Effects and Alternatives

Oilseed rape (Brassica napus) is an important combinable break crop in the UK, which is largely protected from arthropod pests by insecticidal chemicals. Despite ongoing debate regarding the use of neonicotinoids, the dominant seed treatment ingredients used for this crop, there is little publicly available data comparing the efficacy of insecticides in controlling key arthropod pests or compar...

Genetically Engineered, Embryo-specific Lethality for Insect Pest Management

Many insects compete with us humans for agricultural resources, feed on us, or act as disease vectors. Current control efforts rely mostly on the use of insecticides. The use of chemicals to either repel or kill insect pests is the oldest and most commonly used method of pest control. However, with the massive use of insecticides four major problems have arisen. First, many pests have developed...

Insecticide resistance in soil arthropod pests: Status and mechanism

Soil arthropod pests are those which live in the soil and cause economic loss to humans. Root maggots, wireworms, whitegrubs, termites and ants are important soil pests. Insecticides are used for the management of these pests and the buffering capacity of soil makes difficult for these pests to be managed and warrants high concentration of pesticides with repeated applications. This increases t...
